Will have to go as an engine conversion. Which funnily enough would cost more than insurning a 1.8 SRi. It will also be harder to sell on than a standard SXi and it could arguably be worth less too.
Still want to do it?

been reading up...the likely outcomes are....
1. insured as sxi, but with engine conversion as a mod...so will go up accordingly....about £200..
2. Insured as a 1.8 sri equivalent
3. They will tell me to fook off! haha
a note i did find was if its as a 1.8 though the dvla cos it was standard fit to a 1.8 sri, thats the most they can insure me at!
coming upto 20 with 1 yrs ncb. should b ok..i hope! lol

thats not necessarily true, there's been a couple of corsa on ebay that have had various engines dropped in instead and they've all sold for a lot more than they would have with out the new engine in.

They are so backwards insurance companies...
he said that they wouldnt insure it as a 1.2 sxi with a 1.8 conversion. due to the insurance group being three with an enlarged premium
however if when its all changed with the dvla its a 1.8, then i merely fone up n say i have a 1.8 with my same numberplate and when it comes up for them its a 1.8 sxi and they pick its closest match! haha
