Can I just use a normal USB wireless network adaptor or do I have to buy the bullshit official £50+ thing

The latter I think. Mine performs better with the official thing then it did when it was wired to my PC, which is Wireless.

Buy any wireless ethernet bridge instead.
Cheaper and plugs into the ethernet port instead.

Yes but I had this for my original Xbox when they did'nt make an official one so just swapped it to the 360.

they're only about £15-£20 on ebay tho, i'll be getting one of those, at least it can be put to other uses in the future, where as the xbox one will have to go with the xbox for little gain.
