Fitted my new shockers to my corsa today, only to have to swap the front ones for the old ones.
I took the old struts off, took them apart to fit the spring and topmount to the new shocks, let the car down from the jacks and went to move the car however the front was sitting about an inch lower than it normally does. I always thought that the ride height was determined by the spring and not the damper.
Any ideas as to why it was doing this? or is this normal that uprated shocks will lower the car more than standard shocks?

at a guess i can only say the shock is shorter, or even where spring sits in the recess it is deep has to be some explenation
or maybe the piston is shorter which would do this due to top mount etc being attached to the pistion thus sitting lower

mine wasnt even that low with the 60mm springs and uprated shocks... just need to keep an eye out for some front 40mm springs now!

Depends on the springs you get IMO, a lot seem different, plus take sometime bedding in.

that is just pathetic low mine is lowered bout 80mm at back and it catches my steiny skirts in the arch when hitting severe bumps, that would just rip them off surely

this is with the exact same springs, i removed them from the standard shocks and put them on the new shocks and the car was about an inch lower, and arches were touching the tires so I had to put the springs back onto the old standard shocks
