When I plug it in nothing happens? It says plug and play, Ive opened My Computer as it says but its not there? Anyone shed any light?

Control Panel > Administrative tools > computer management.
Select disk management and see if the drive is listed, if it is you might, right-mouse-click it and select add (or something like that).

If it doesn't list in there, look under your device settings and see if it's being picked up.

Failing that, you sure theres power to external drive? Change usb ports? try different computer? make sure you don't have to install drivers for it (check the website)? After all of that (especially trying it on a different system) then i would have a guess that its duff

i got one today and remembered bout ur thread so tried it in a none usb 2.0 port and it didnt work, moved it to a usb 2.o and it worked

if you plug something that is usb 2.0 into a slower usb port windows normally pops up a message saying this device could perform faster

i had the same problem, i bought a "carrier" type thing from ebay and put my old laptop's hard drive into it and it never worked, then i tried it with another drive i had and it worked. turns out the first drive i tried was shagged, this may be the case with yours too.
mine looked like this if thats any help
