Am having a lot of trouble fitting my new short gear linkage... well more like trouble with removing the old one, I cannot seem to remove the pin from the universal joint on the selector rod, any tips for removing this?

Corsa SRi with a 1.4 8v - F13 CR box (i think)..
just cant seem to remove the pin which goes through the universal joint, The Haynes manual says squeeze the two retaining lugs and remove the pin, but I just can't get the pin out, (or see the retaining lugs for that matter!)

they are tight, mole grips should sort it, grip them below the lip and if you can hit it with a hammer

quick linkage is in and really makes a difference to the gear changes deffinatly a recommended modification
thanks for the advice mate

easy but fiddily, once the pin was out of the universal joint it was straight forward
had to remove the rear engine/gearbox mounting to remove the old linkage and then get the new one in place.
