I want to replace the auxiliary belt on my 1999 1.6 sport, but it's looking like a nightmare job.

The haynes says I need to lift the engine by 50mm

Does anybody know a way round this? Or have any advice?

Yup wish i didn't now lol.

Mainly wanting to do the cambelt, but this has to come off first.

Maybe i'll just go buy an engine hoist

i really should change my alternator as its a noisey sod but this put me off as well

not really a problem just louder then it needs to be. TBH i knew this when i picked it up but i had replaced the one in my 1.2 and foolishly thought this would be as easy
