Basically as the title says, my engines still not running right but it's stumped my brother as he thought it was something major. anyway is there a quick way (or any way) of testing if the coil pack is working correctly?

Take the spark plugs out, whilst still connect to the leads, put it near metal and turn the engine over to see the spark plugs ignite.

going to check the timing hopefully monday. Do you think it would be best to turn over the engine by hand to find the top dead centre point of cylinder 1?

Just put something down the cylinder no.1, like a screwdriver, keep turning it over until the screwdriver meets the highest point
