my car just passed it's mot but the mot guy said my petrol cap is illegal.
funny thing is, i bought the car with the same petrol cap (just a green one just you stick in, non screw in or locking).
so i don't know what to look for to be honest. what does everyone have? only ones i can find are for corsa c, are they the same diameter as the b? thanks.
* sorry if posted in wrong section, not sure where it should go to be honest*

Mine doesn't have a key to lock, just screws in and then if you keep turning it to screw it in, clicks.
Halfords probably sell them!

thanks mate, yeah mine doesn't screw in at all so you can always smell petrol from the exhaust and petrol flap area. this is probably the reason why?
just wondered if the diameter is the same

Those plastic things are supposedly illegal and only for temporary use. YOu can pick up a new cap from a scrappy fir a few quid though...

If you get one from a newer Corsa B, ie 97ish onwards, they aren't locking, which means you won't need a key.
Just make sure you have a locking flap instead, it should lock shut when the car is locked.

i'll just get a screw in cap then, never thought to try and see if the flap locks shut when the car locks genius

My 95 montana had a locking cap but no locking flap, whereas my 98 sport has a locking flap but no locking cap

never understood what central locking meant, sorry no good at technical things?
does it just mean if you stick the key in and turn it will lock everything?
if so, mine has that

The only reason I can gather that it is illegal if it only pushes in, is if you role your car, then it could fall out and cause mass petrol spillage.
Probably wrong though.
And yes, if you have central locking, the petrol 'flap' will lock as well.

probably something to do with that or petrol getting out easily as it doesn't have any tightness really and could explode or something terrible
don't scare me or i won't drive it

If you want a cap urgently, I know Halfords has plenty of different sizes, and some what lock with a key, so double security

We sell those sort of things at work, apparently they are fine for MOT's, according to the packaging.
