Never used one but with the arrival of my Astra Coupe I'm tempted to give it a go
Best places to buy? Best brand to go for? How do I use it?

So I guess you clean the car, dry it, use the clay bar then polish it?

no clay bar removes all surface contaniments in the laquer leaving a great shine

so doing the whole car is beneficial

I would love to be more motivated to spend hours cleaning the car but Washing and polishing takes long enough! Plus as soon as i drive it round the country lanes it's dirty anyway!

clay bar leaves the paint nice and smooth though which means dirt finds it harder to bond also makes it very water repellent so stays cleaner for longer

plus it safe to use as many times as you want

fuck sake i sound like a clay bar salesman

But for the time it takes me to do it and the cost of all the equipment for a car i use everyday i'd prefer to spend £5 a week to get the drive through to do it for me!

Sponge will fuck your paintwork, just carries the grit all over your car causing scratches and swirl marks. Use Microfibre or Lambswool mitts.
