Hi, I've just had my car serviced and the guy that did it says the Secondary induction filter was full of
dirt and crap and needs changing, does anyone know roughly how much it
is and whether it would cause the car to idle high? and once it's replaced it
will idle normally?
Thanks

and surely blocked induction would lead to lov revving and stalling.. rather than a high idle?

It wont make it idle high due to it's only used for the 1st couple of minutes after a cold start up. After that, it turns off.

I'm not sure what it is called, it's in a black box in the bottom right of the engine bay, it's got a filter in it

if you look under the blue lead near the bottom, the filter is in that round thing
just left and down from the power steering fluid bottle

I went to vauxhall and a new filter plus the box was only £7.17. He said it would affect idling cause it's an air pump or something, so hopefully when I get the part it will be sorted.
Dean_W what do you mean added extra? Don't these come with abs?

Just wondering, because my mates 1.4 16 hasn't got ABS. Neither have I.

On the side of the lower inlet manifold. Next to the throttle body. The SAI and the EGR are two different systems.

It IS part of the EGR valve system , its as said a charcoal filter, its supposed to have bits in it. TBH mate that one is fairly new i had it replaced when i had the car.
If it is idling funny then its the ICV playing up again, best bet is to clean it out, either do it yourself or get brian to do it ( he did it about 3 times when i owned it) and if that doesnt sort it u will need ANOTHER new one lol.
Also the ABS was a roughtly £900 option on 16v SRi's mine was one of the few that had it, infact its one of the highest specced SRi's that was made :-)
