Want a decent size ish car, was thinking Astra Convertible 1.8i, Focus ST170, face lifted Beamer 318i or 172 but the 172 would prob be a bit small plus insurance was a bit more then I wanted to spend?
Thoughts? Thanks

Never thought i would say this but the focus is a very nice car for the money; for £7K you could get the fully spec'd one with full leather xenon's and climate; good car IMO

Astra of similar spec?! No idea what you'd get for your money?
Is a Fabia vRS in that price range yet?

yes, but it isnt as well built or comfortable. the focus is a better car but isnt as fast. depends what you want from the car really.

Yeah but in comparison i would have the focus over build quality as all french cars seem to be built of different shades of plastic.

He's not but he has a point. Skoda Fabia vRS's always get good write-ups, and it's basically a VW Polo I would imagine.
