318ci - wasnt impressed, felt under powered, not mazing as i thought.

Gona look at a Focus ST170 and 206 GTi 180. Both seem reasonable on insurance, mpg, bit of power wen you want it etc, sensible and in my price range.

Any had experiences with either?

Thanks

Insurance is a bit more, plus would like the climate control mate. I think i'd be too tempted to put foot down, would = big fuel bills and poss speeding fines/points which I can afford !

ST170 doesn't really have power mate Not as quick as you'd think. As someone said, have a look at a Clio cup

if your going to get a bmw and want it to be quick then it has to either be 330ci or m3 etc.., even the new 3 series (e90?) 325 is quick, but isnt any quicker than most hot hatches.

i think the st170 is a good all round car as i said in your other post, iirc my mates was a bit thirsty though and i know if i had one i would want the extra grunt and constantly think'if only i got an accord type r' but if flat out speed and handling isnt what your after then imo its the perfect car, there still pokey and handle well aswell

I wouldn't have even contemplated a 318. ST170 isn't that special either, although they can look nice in imperial blue As for the 206, performance is disapointing imo.

I said under powered, not quick! just want a nice car to drive about in and if i want it to over take then have a bit of go behind it, dont expect it to have M3 power.

what about a 320d? much more go than a 318, my mates old 330d company car( facelift 204bhp model) was fantastic, same pace as my mates 330ci
