Is there anybody on here who's driven both the Corsa C 1.7 DTi SXI and the later 1.7 CDTi SRI?
I can't decide which to go for. I'm basically after a well-equipped and economical daily driver that's also nippy off the mark and will cruise at motorway speeds.
On paper I know that the SRI handles better than the SXI and it's about 2 seconds quicker to 60, with an extra 15 mph or so at the top end. It also looks nicer but the problem is that they fetch another £2k or so than the SXI so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the extra cost, or if in real-world driving the difference isn't that much.
Any advice appreciated.

Buy a sxi - and get it remapped if you want more power! That will save you about £1700 - 1800 quid!

Sounds good. Does a re-map just involve faffing with the stock ECU, or is there a piggyback chip required? I ask because if you can see it's been done then I'll have to declare it to the insurance co, which means more insurance.
Also what about the handling- how much difference between stock SXI and stock SRI?

CDTi is alot nicer engine. I also read not long ago that certain 1.7 ECU's can't be remapped. If you can afford it get the CDTi SRI

there does seem to be an issue with remaping on certain sri cdti's however there is a tuning box available and these seem to work quite well

I'd certainly be interested to hear how that goes too. Arent these boxes suppost to put them up to about 120bhp?
Going to be looking at getting a tuning box for mine at some point. Shame there about a million different ones to pick from .

Fair enough but what does it equate to in real world driving terms i.e. how much better does the SRI handle?
I didn't realise the SRI had drums on the rear. That's a bit shit.
