Had an idea that might work and might not. Im thinking some clever sod could do a ower increase calculator, so u put what engine and then u can on performance parts to see what gains u are likely to see. U can all tell me its a crap idea i just thought ide share, save all the posts of how much will this give me etc.

there already is one.. every copy of max power
Air filters - 10-15bhp
exhausts - 5-10bhp
shiny things - 50bhp
tastless max power stickers - 100bhp
etc

Thats not a bad idea tbh. But it would take such a long time to put each individual mod in. Plus it would only be a rough gain.

You could do it, but different things give different gains with other mods, for example (just plucking figures out of the air)
Inlet on a standard 1.6 would give 10bhp.
Inlet on a 1.6 with 4 branch, filter and chip would give 14bhp plus whatever the other mods give.
You'd have to have all the mods update if they have other mods added after, if that makes sense?
It could be done though, and would be quite cool.

yeah i was thinking this, a cam and inlet would give different results together that fitted seperatly if you follow me, i.e cam alone might make 5bhp and the inlet 10bhp but together instead of 15 they might make 20bhp

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say, I knew what to say in my head, but it didn't work on the keyboard

and then the collected results would vary due to rolling roads being different and giving different readouts

So, to sum up, it wont work

Nah, it would work, it'd just be a lot of effort.
You have to do;
Nothing
Exhaust
Filter
Inlet
Cams
Exhaust and filter
Exhaust and inlet
Filter and inlet
Exhaust, filter and cams
Exhaust, inlet and cams
Exhaust and cams
Filter and cams
etc...
all the mods on their own and with each individual possible way they could be with other mods.
Possible though

well could only be aproximate but everyone would have to use the same rollers and then someone would have to try different combinations of parts on an engine to get power readings,
i propose dave a gets a new vehicle and fits various bits and bobs together and singularly and records power gains thus creating a database
Edit: Robin were on the same wavelength tonight lol

a general guide could be possible but there is soo much variety in the inlet and indcuton and exhuasts it woudl be almost endless
and general guide can be made
would almost be just liek a calculator with tick boxes that adds figures together

I knew it would be alot of effort but we can get a huge amount of data from the amount of users we have here so it would be an average gain.
So we can get people who have done various mods and have actual power gain to pool the results together.
JK i was thinking like a tick box thing to.

yeah but rollers give different results someone in brighton might have rolled 10bhp on a bmc filter and someone in prestatyn might have rolled 12bhp, yeah you could take the average but it wouldnt be fully acurate n would defeat its purpose when if you ask most members can give you a rough idea of gain anyway

I dont think it would defeat the purpose at all the whole point in it is to see what sort of gains u can get from diff mods without having to ask endless questions to people.

i agree too much conflict but it wouldnt be a definite thing just as a guide for users who would like to know how they may get gains or what gains they can get for thier money would remove the need for questions about what mods give the best power
also would be dependant on engine size

Yeah i ralise the engine size of it would have to be a diff calculator but if sum1s clever enough they could do 1, im just not tha person

also diffrent product brands give diffrent gains of torque and bhp

It could probably be done, but it wouldnt be cheap! someone obviously has to test every single part with other mods and different brands etc wich could take a VERY long time, and of course it would have to be realy detailed to basicaly tell you that such mods dont go well together.
Too costly and the software wouldnt be handed out for free, probably only major companys as it wouldnt be the sort of thing to let everyone use! it could cause many many problems

never work it would be completely different for each car, not even close
an induction kit could give 10bhp for one car but actually minus bhp from another, thats quite a difference to make it worthless

common sense is better than any innacurate calculator, and who cares about bhp anyway, its how the car drives thats more important, you know an induction kit isnt going to make any difference, you know a set of cams and mapping will, you dont need numbers to tell you that
you also know if you want your car to go faster fit a set of cams, if you want your car go a lot faster fit throttle bodies
