Right, I will soon be performing an engine rebuild either on a x14xe or x16xe.

What specialist tools will i require and what sizes, along with such things as grinding paste??

any help is appreciated

Also would it be possible to do a rebuilt with the engine still bolted in the car, as someone sequested it to me but i thought it was going to make things harder for me. Also do i need an engine crane or can i make do without?

Good quality adjustable torque wrench.

Erm I would think it would be easier to remove it. What bits are you rebuilding/replacing??

Erm, by "value" i meant what torque amount as some tighten to higher values than others and Im probley just going to replace the bearings and gaskets. What else should i replace, I shall check the head for dents etc but what else would i need

If you buy a haynes manual, it has all the torque settings for the engine in it, so you can buy a torque wrench to suit

Engine crane, yes, don't mess about, just buy one. I paid £160 for one, used it for my conversion, it would have been a total ballache without it, you can sell it after, but I've used mine more than I thought I would, so it was good to keep it.

You'll also need an angle gauge for the head bolts, no idea where to get one though

Oh, and don't forget to get the head skimmed

I would send the head and block away to be skimmed and rehorned

Are these tools available at most general car tool stores? How would I find a place near me that can skim and rehorn the head and block?

Edit - Already have that socket set

Ebay is a good bet for some stuff like draper that make alot of them tools.
