In theory, (ignoring gear ratios, drag co-efficient and tyre sizes) you'd need a car the same weight and same power, and it would match it.

So, lighter and more powerful = faster.

You need more than 130bhp (which is possible, throttle bodies would give you 145-150, maybe a little more with the right other spec) and about 750kg (I think, maybe less) which is the hard part.

well considering most tuned 1.6's struggle - give up with a 1.4!

There was a guy on here years ago essex racer, had a properly tuned up 1.4 and still couldn't touch a 106 gti.

Jr's was quick, but only did mid 15's 1/4 mile I believe, when my car just had an exhaust and filter I was doing low 15's with all interior.

Think you'll find wieght wise there's not much in it, you are down 30+BHP and I have no idea what the gearing is like compared on the two.

Just hope you don't have to go in to a roundabout with one side by side in a corsa.

I'm not saying 106GTi's are amazing, paul knows what I'm talking about 205's for the win

If this X14XE was in a Nova SR then you'd just need the inlet filter & exhaust to keep up with one. 780kgs & ~110bhp = 140+bhp per ton. Obviously the 1.6XE with those mods would leave it for dead.

TB's are expensive unless you go the Bike TB route, but that is a kind of new area that not many people have delved into yet.

no because rob_lee had a x16xe in a stripped out nova, so was probably around 110 bhp and 780 kgs, and he could get 15.3's up the quarter, gti's do that standard..... next question ? its not just about matching bhp/ton, its about the way the power is delivered aswell and the gear ratios.

ok, well the gearing on gti's is better than a x14xe, so on the road it would be the same story.

You were picking my point up on the 1.6 not the 1.4.
