Im just at work and a guy i know has asked me if i can help him
He says that his engine (x10xe) is making a noise, becomes worse when hot
A load tapping noise that gets louder as you rev it, i havent heard it myself yet this is just what i've been told
I suggested either tappets, or timing chain
Any other ideas ???

needs a new timing chain tensioner - theres reworked ones out
but a new timing chain cures the noise too (do to old chain is worn but tensioner is too weak and cant adjust to wear causing rattling

well, take the engine mount off, then waterpump then side casing, im 99% you dont affect the timing when doing it.
you may have to lower the sump (to get the side casing off), i cant remeber tbh though

if its noisy you need to replace the shoes it runs on too....
