wii is currently outselling the PS3 and Xbox
this shows its not all about graphics and more about gameplay

imo wii is novelty which is the only reason its selling is well.
but tbh i cant see why so many have bought one as im certain it wouldnt take long to get bored of wii sports etc if you play alone.

its not really a true competitor, plus alot of pople who own one also own a 360 or PS3.
interesting to note that since launch day PS3 sales have dropped by 82%.

I'd say it was a direct competitor and that statement makes no sense whatsoever, are folk making buying a wii then making their own ps3 or 360 out of paper mache?

what he means is people are buying a PS3/XBOX 360 but also buying a wii as its cheap and a good laugh when people are round.

not a direct competitor at all, offers no new gen graphics, lacks decent online features, no HD/Blu ray player
may be selling well but wittout big titles, next gen graphics/AI, decent online features and HD/Blu ray player it is not going to knock the PS3 or 360 off number 1 spot.
After all games is where the money is made so Console numbers means fuck all if you have games like GoW selling millions
it offers something different, good for family, friends around etc.

It's also the cheapest. Has to be a factor.
p.s. I'm no fanboy, i'm selling my 360 as I never play it.

Price is a definite factor, the fact it was something different and fun was the biggest factor in me buying one.

its not really in the same market its more for younger kids, not saying that makes it a bad console or bad what its intended to be

That's not what the figures suggest, they'd suggest most people are buying a wii then buying a 360 or ps3 as the secondary console.

Suppose you could say that, children in my house could play a 360 or ps3 with ease i think they'd struggle to get a hang of wii sports though.

i would of thought it would be the other way round personally, id reckon alot of those wii's have gone to people who already own a ps3 or 360

Maybe the fact the wii outsells them both suggests otherwise.

the wii probably has, but i wouldnt assume too much from sales figures, most of the time 'sales' figures are based upon how many units have shipped and not actually sold.
PS3 do this a lot to claim they have 'sold' a lot more than they actually have

although 41 thousand ps3 sales in japan is absolutely dire, especially so close to launch. 360 were still selling almost half that years after release and in japan! those figures will be a lto higher still in europe and usa

PS3 is just not going to take off, bit like the Dreamcast, to little to late.
