I'm seriously considering selling my 1L 12V Corsa and buying my brothers 1.25 Fiesta Zetec. It has a a full decat system (manifold and exhaust) although I would probably remove the manifold because it would cost too much to replace it at every MOT.
The only problem is my car has a few scratches on the door and rear quarter panel and the engine management light is on. I'm not sure if it would be best to get this fixed then sell, or sell in it's current condition?
Here is my car:
Body damage:

Car:

Specifications:
Engine: 1.0L 12V
Mileage: 76500
Year: 1999
What price would you value the car at? Two separate prices please; one in it's current condition and one if it were fixed up.

why would you need to remove the manifold for MOT?

Because there is no catalytic converter - straight MOT failure.

I don't want to talk about the Fiesta at the moment, just the Corsa: what I should do and how much you would value it at please

It isn't Nic, it will pass an MOT without, but the Police can fine you at the roadside.
Mine passed without one, at a respectable garage with a non dodgy MOT.

6. Your vehicle has had its catalytic converter removed and replaced by a normal exhaust silencer but passes the emissions Test. Does it fail the MOT because it hasn't got a catalytic converter when it should have one?
a) No, if it passes the emissions part of the MOT that is acceptable.

I don't think you even need a silencer TBH, just as long as it passes the emissions test without (which it should do, if it's standard fuelling wise) then it's ok.
Don't think there's anything in the test about noise, so no need for an extra silencer AFAIK, if that's what you mean?

aye thats what i was wondering.
all i can say is when i first had mine at a computer test centre. the fella wouldnt pass it even though emissions were fine as it had no cat. i had to dig out the old log book for the astra the engine originally came from and take that down to show the engine number was from a 1989 and didnt need a cat.
maybe he didnt like me, for obvious reasons

£800 as it stands? What about if everything was fixed?
Do you think it's worth fixing? Or sell it as it is?

Currently i would say 1k
Mis matching bumpers and arches, EML scrape.
tbh even if you fixed it all up i the money you spend on it you wouldnt make that money back in the new sale price in my eyes

Yea the front arches and bumper are slight different colour and have no gloss. I would be really happy with 1K because my brother would give me his for £800 and there's nothing wrong with it.
Anyone else have suggestions? Fix it or sell it as it is?
The only problem I see, is not many people want to buy a car with problems. This has a few scratches and the EML is on.
