Story so far is that around a month ago i went upto the salvage yard and i went into one of the yards your not supposed to go into, but as they had some cheap cars in there i went to have a noise.
Whilst looking i spotted a Gsi badge so walked over and spotted it.
A white Corsa Gsi!
Was the first Gsi i have seen in the flesh and it being in white was mint as i wanted a white corsa next.
So I went into the sales office and gave them the reg and it hasn't cleared yet.
Been standing for 9 months
So i put my name down to be called when it comes for sale(he said it should clear within the next month).
87,000 miles, had a good look underneath, and surprisingly is solid, as i've had 2 SRi's which where the same year and where rotten.
Its been hit at the front so its a Cat C.
The damage, front beam pushed in, bumper damaged and headlight pushed in.
Both mirrors are knocked off, and the bonnets good, it looks like panel gap in that picture but its just open.
Side fixings for the bumper have broken which is a pain, and some centre caps are missing.
Lexus lights are the first to go.
The side skirts have been put in the car, passengers side peice is still on but the drivers is missing.
Some parts of the interior have been pulled out, like the glove box and cigarette lighter bit.
The bit that concerns me is the engine.
It has a metal inlet, isn't it the sport that has the metal one and the gsi had the plastic one, or am i completely wrong?
So am looking to buy this as my next project, but i don't really know what I should be paying for it.
L reg.
Cat C
1.6 16v Gsi
87k.
Opinions
Cheers
Adam

That's an X16XE engine, which the later ones had (with it being an M plate, it's the right engine for the year)

Thats the right engine if its a late one. Don't go too crazy on price. That'll need a bit of work plus an inspection before you can put it back on the road.

it does have some modifications, such as a remus backbox, lexus lights, it did have some sort of air filter lol, and it does have vectra chrome door handles, when i saw the handles i thought- how did they know these would fit? Could have been a member on here?

thanks go lol.
Ian - will definatly inspect it first, my Dad is a trained mechanic and actually inspects damaged cars for insurance companies for a living and has repaired a few cars from the same place, im not expecting the engine to be fine as its been sat there for 9 months, but im more than prepared to work on it.
I don't think its lowered 60mm, looks standard, so i don't think its hers, close call though lol.

no lol.
I would only buy it to repair and keep, i think theres too many gsi's being broke for bits these days IMO, i would only brake it for parts if it was rotten, but if it was rotten i wouldn't be buying it to be honest.

for £300 you would be better off stripping it and buying a roadworthy one with the money
it will always be a cat c and always be worth nothing
good project though

have £300 put aside in the bank, so hopefully the sale guy will be in a good mood.
