tbh i think you would need to ditch the std ecu, and fit an aftermarket ecu with ignition side mapping.

If they had a dizzy drive you may have been able to get away with junking the ecu completely but sadly they havent

Its a lot more complicated that just fitting the carbs. On a corsa, you may have problems with the length of the carbs/inlet hitting the firewall too, so that may need removing.

-You will need an aftermarket ignition system(Few hundred £££), loom, which will need to be wired in
-Alternator lowering bracket(probably need to be diy made)
-Low pressure fuel pump and regulator
-Any bits for the carbs, such as new chokes/jets(chokes alone are £60 a set), rebuild kit if needed.

Then the carbs will need setting up on a rolling road, and the ecu mapping.
Probably the best part of £400 ish.

Then be prepared to be annoyed when trying to get the engine running in cold weather

vaux lad.. i am in agreeance with you with the work that is needed, but the noise they produce is absolutely fantastic, i would put carbs on every car if i had the choice!
and cold starts are not a problem if you push the throttle half way before you turn the key, she fires up first time every time..
and the best bit about carbs is the simplicity, nothing to go wrong nothing to worry about just beautiful noise and 25ish bhp instant increase(if set up properly)

i had twin 40 dellortos on my nova sr which were easy to fit and were jetted and set up already. they sounded amazing with a straight threw powerflow system. theres a set on here for sale that will fit a gsi but it does sound like a pig of a job to convert.
was easy on the nova as it wasnt injection so no ecu to worry about.

And a nova can use a dizzy, so thats ignition sorted....
Hence why the conversion is very popular in the nova scene.

Austen-I know exactly what you mean mate, i had twin webers on my old 8v.
I agree the engine starts fine in cold weather, but keeping it running is another issue(it cant idle when cold), so you have to keep it "on throttle" to stop it stalling.

i brought them of a dellorto dealer who buys them from italy and reconditions them, luckily he had a set setup for a 1.4 nova, they ran spot on no probs with them.
but i did have a single weber carb on before which wouldnt idle, had to keep your foot on the throttle or it would stool.

austen what are you running your carbs on?

I have to admit mate, i never had them professionally setup.
But they ran fine, and the jetting was almost spot on.
It had no flat spots etc.

They do run spot on with a warm engine, just on first start in the morning you have to keep the throttle held to stop them stalling(as you dont use the chokes on webers, as the choke mechanism is sh**e)
