We (Fee and I) had pretty much decided on an NSX over an exige/22B/EVO etc...

but having a think about another car i've always wanted i'm not so sure now...

Datsun 240Z.

We'd have been spending 20k + on an NSX so finding a nice 70's (road tax free) 240Z should more than easy in the budget.

discuss...

pics.

my concerns are that we'd have 3 fairly classic cars..... We do have a 2001 plate alfa as a run around now though... so i'm maybe fussing over nothing.

Im biased. NSX! Unless you can get the 240Z to look like the bottom pic with a great Nissan turbo lump!

NSX, no competition.

The 240 WILL have issues that you will need to constently fix. Its much older, and I don't think would be much fun to drive as the NSX. I mean, Senna designed the Handling, thats enough for me.

Only thing that lets the NSX down its its outright performance, or lack of it compared to its looks.

Honda will be cheaper to maintain than the older Nissan.

To get the 240 up to one of those pictures with the arches, nice wheels, your gonna have to fork out big Willie style on pimping. Do you want to pimp, or do you want performance?

You've got a classic in the Porkie, and an NSX IS a classic, its just not old enough yet. Great cars.

the 240z is cool, but id guess it would be hard enough to keep and expensive if things go wrong. To be honest it doesnt look outstanding when standard. Go for a 22b

i'm sure the wider arches are std on some model of 240Z... some HG or something....

No criteria as such.... nice to look at, fun to drive.... wont lose money hand over fist like a modern performance car.

If it was to do more than 2k miles a year i'd def go for the NSX.... but to be honest i doubt it will do more than 1k miles

The car is basically just another weekend car.
We live a 5 minute walk from my work, so don't need a daily car

Maybe we're better not getting another classic and sell the alfa romeo for a tow car...like a warrior

Notm slow, but its not ground breakingly fast either. Im sure your Skyline will kill it in a straight line (although you should enter the NSX into the Track Attack NA class ).

I just see problems with the old Nissan, and at least with the NSX (now they've stopped making them) it will get cult status. Give it a few years, they will be jsut as sought after, esp as the best sales in the UK in all the time it was sold was 9... 9 Cars in 1 year is the best sells, nasty... £70,000 car to buy new.

I'd want more power though. Superchargers are very popular

I'd want one like this..

I just think the NSX wont be quick enough compared to what your used to - Nearly 14 seconds to 100, you'll be getting left by some standard hot hatches!

Nice car and apparently handle great but too much show and not enough go for me! Tough to tune aswell without spending a fortune!

Stu - thats the hidden bonus.... I doubt id be looking for more power out of it... Maybe a set of nice wheels/suspension/brakes if its going to be used on track etc... but def no silly power plans...

In your shoes I would go for the NSX

As the other is a really nice car and alot better looking. But i cant see it been as fun to drive and you already have a classic as mentioned...............

The only disadvantages of the car. But when it comes to a bend

Think its a bit like the Vauxhall V6's. OK as standard, but hard to get more decent power without a supercharger option. Its a car you'd have to be happy with as standard.

AK - My "want" above meant the Black one with the Rayberg (?sp) type alloys and pop up headlights. Not the carbon one, thats too much, i'dwant some paint on it so not to look so much of a AW.....

But as you've said, your not looking for more power (you've got the Skyboat for that), but as a drivers car, i think you would be in your eliment. Watch Fee dissapear on the straights, then sit up her arse (not literally, or maybe literally? ) on the brakes and corners.
