Not sure if this should be in OD
But as the F1 and the superbikes were on today I watched some of each.
Then I started to think which are faster around a track?
I know top Gear did a test in a straight line and the superbike won to 60mph because the F1 car could only use 3/4 of the throttle, but as soon and it could use 100% throttle it went past...
But would a superbike be faster in the bends?
So, a full circuit mixed with straights and bends, which do you think would win?
Bearing in mind a typical superbike weights 200kg and has 220bhp so thats something stupid bhp/ton, but whats the weight of a F1 car? and what power do they push out?
that is all

The F1 car is faster in a straightline and round a track, a Motorbike doesnt generate downforce where as an F1 car has aerodynamic devices, can corner up around 5g

An F1 car would give it an even bigger beating around a track.

going by your superbike power and weights would be 1100bhp per ton. dont f1 cars have 800bhpish, no sure what tehy weigh tho.
dunno what would corner faster tho

The only reason I thought they were faster to like 100mph is the superbike couldn't use full throttle because the front would come up
F1 cars MUST weigh 800kg's?! complete guess

I read F1 cars have 300bhp per litre, and rev at 19,000 rpm!
Downforce would also be a major force in winning

The new McLaren F1 is 730bhp but weighs 605kg. The power to weight ratio, pace and handling are all in the F1's favour tbh.

F1 cars will lap quicker due to them being able to go round corners a lot faster
In a straight line, the F1 car would probably beat a Superbike, BUT there wouldn't be much in it against a GP bike

F1 car would win because a bike cannot take corners as quick as an f1 car. Although I would think the bike could probably outbreak it??!!

youd be suprised theres quite a bit, the video above shows a moto gp bike doing a 1.50 lap and the F1 car doing a 1.30, so a fair bit of difference

22B, i said in a straight line.
Like i said before, the F1 cars don't need to slow down as much as a bike for corners, so can get round them a lot quicker

ah! you've reminded me about something, I was looking at the wheels on the F1 cars today and they look 12-13" max so they've got to be the size of 1.6 corsa sport brakes?
