Both Alonso and Agger are out for 6-8 weeks with broken metatarsals

We've enough cover for Alonso, but we didnt get cover in for CD during the summer really, so looks like Arbeloa may end up playing there - he is a CB really but never played there for us.

Now been confirmed. Not as long as has been mentioned originally though...

"Neither player will require surgery but we expect them to be out of action for between four and six weeks.

"Xabi Alonso has suffered a stress fracture to the 4th metatarsal in his left foot and Daniel Agger has suffered a stress fracture to the 2nd metatarsal in his right foot."

Surely someone needs to look into whats causing this - why are soooo many people breaking this bone?

Are peoples boots different? Is the ground different?

or is it just now the second anyone gets touched they have a ton of scans where before they would give it a week and then just carry on?

In the past it was probably called a bruised foot or something which grouped together a load of injuries. Now everyone knows everything so its more clear whats actually happening.

I broke my metatarsal a phalanges (big toe :lol and chipped the intermediate cuneiform last november.

I was wearing silly lightweight Nike boots at the time. Dont actually know if that had anything to do with it though. COuldnt have helped.
