hi my car does not have a cigarette lighter,the hole is there for one with a cap on iv took the whole ash tray out to see if there is a wire or plug behing so i could connect it up but there is nothing there at all,i want one connected up so i can buy a sat nav.

has anyone else had this problem before and what did they do about it?

ive not got one either, ive been told the wires should just be taped up in the loom somewhere around there

all i can see when i have the ashtray out is the bottom part of my cd player.i cant see any wires

the wires for the cig lighter are just ignition live and earth.
any ignition live and any earth can be used for wiring it up

i just spliced the cd player wires for mine an worked fine

I bought one from halfrauds i think, and i just asked the guy to fit it when I had my MOT.

Works a treat, apart from the spark shower i got the other day.... serves me right for poking it with a screwdriver.

ive got this problem. bought an ashtray with a cig lighter in and never got round to wiring it up because i couldnt find the wires.

it is there i found it!!

its simple enough to find, black and brown wires if i remember.
remove the ask tray (four screws) and you'll be left looking at the underneath of the stereo. get your fingers low and behind this and you'll feel some wires, thats wot you're looking for...thats how i found them!

i wired up this switch from the wires


which i use for my NEONs

red or yellow wire on iso loom (stereo) and earth (black) i did this as my gauges took the place of my ashtray. so its hidden away aswell

i connected mine to the battery...with a in line fuse and switch.

i need to do this aswell, if the wires are there i would like to use the unused fag lighter ones vaux have provided instead of using headunit wires, how do i know which ones are the fag lighter wires?

see my post. iirc there are two black and one brown - dont ask why. check teh electric curcuit diagram in Haynes for colour confirmation but i know that i found the right wires as described previously
