Just got a phone call for my dad from his "Bank".
My dad's on holiday untill tuesday.
They said it was quite urgent and to ring back as soon as possible.
I thought it was a bit strange that they rang on a Sunday and didnt clarify what bank they where from.
Just googled the number and found this link....

Would i to take it as serious?
I just rang the number back and it went through to "halifax and bank of scotland retial fraud"

And the fact when you phoned back it said "halifax and bank of scotland retial fraud"
Might used to recieve incoming calls but the phonlines been bought out to let customers know that it was a dodgy line?

probably because his credit card has had some weird purchases flapped up? As long as he knows he can ring the bank and sort it.

Probably some strange purchases on his account so they've phoned to find out if they're genuine.
Thing is - if he's on holiday, that might be why.
Not much activity on the account then he buys some buy stuff miles away. Might look initially like someone has cloned the card and used it elsewhere when in fact it is just your dad doing it.
Can you find out from the bank exactly what the purchases are and where? Your dad will then be able to confirm they are genuine.

Well i've tried asking but they wouldnt give me any information. So my dad now wants me to just cancel his card and then he'll ring when he gets back...
He doesnt usually use his card on holiday

Did he use it at all though?
Not using it usually is probably why they've phoned.

It happened to me
The way a Frauds and Disputes team works is they look at unusual activity going through any account and if they see quite a bit of use abroad they will call just to check its genuine and not fraud
They will do it on unusual card use in the UK too
Its their job and we would moan if they let things slip through the net
Prob nothing to worry about kus no matter what the reason they are aware of it and on the case
