Hi people,
I think it would be a good idea for someone to write down a list of all the noticeable "REALISTIC" power gains that people are likely to see by putting mods onto their cars...
By summer next year I should have:
- Induction kit
- Janspeed Manifold
- Inlet Manifold (ebay one)
- Full exhaust system
& possibly a remap...
How much bhp do you think I should see from all of these?
Thanks

I've got 125.2 BHP and 115 lbft with this spec.
Drilled air box, K&N panel filter, Mantzel inlet manifold, 4-1 pro-tech exhaust manifold, Exhaust UK de-cat and backbox.
Plus a remap i'd think it'd get to 130 bhp.

I had 130bhp with that spec, but my inlet was a Lexmaul, which would mean less power than the ebay ones, possibly. Although, my filter was a Viper, which means more power than an open cone.
I guess 130-132.

for the price of these mods isn't it just better to drop a 2.0 8v or save some extra and get a redtop?
i was also going to tune my 1.6 but for the mods you list that'll be pretty much £1000 - nearly conversion territory surely?
i always ask myself is it really worth spending that money to then just about keep up with 106 gti's and saxo vts'... lol

^^ lol yea I know what you mean mate, but I am able to get some of the stuff mentioned above cheap.....
however I am not sure on how much a remap would cost?????
I calculated the cost at being around £600/700 not £1000 thats hardly conversion territory!

Those that are keeping up with a GTI/VTS with an XE need to pull the mats out from behind the peddles!!!
I've payed £700 for all my mods. Been told that a remap is about £300.
So yeah, £1k is reasonable.

Yes, I emailed a geeza from regal and he said they can do a remap on the engine which should give it an extra "10 bhp" - just from the remap app.....?

My mantzel gained 10.8 BHP.
For the remap, it all depends on the state of the mods and the condition of the engine.
But 5 to 8 realistically with your spec.

If you don't increase fuel delivery 11 bhp is the gain.
I gained +25 after the chip and increased rev limit

Mantzel +chip+blocked EGR+increased pressure because it was a generic chip form superchips that I had before.
104bhp before raising the fuel pressure
115bhp after at 7000 rpm
1.4 16v at the time

I used to smoke VTS' and GTI's in my old XE, it had induction kit, powercap, 4-2-1 manifold, full exhaust system. i reckon it was running probly about 160bhp and I seriously used to piss all over them from 3rd gear onwards.
