Hi guys,

Well last weekend I took the girlfriend up north for her birthday and proposed to her, was a great weekend and she said yes. However on the way home I was stuck behind 4 lorries on the A9 doing 40 mph, this was slightly annoying after 20 miles so decided at the next overtaking lane I would get past them all. To my luck the police were sitting over the hill behind a grass verge and I passed them at 86mph in a 60! They stopped me and said I was going to fast for them to issue a £60 fine and 3 points and told me they would give my details to the proscuter fiscol ( spelt wrong, not sure how to!).

So what do you think I will get?!

I have 0 points so not a big deal but not looking forward to hearing!

Cheers

You shouldn't get a ban as you were doing less than a ton and you hadn't doubled the speed limit.

You were 20+mph over the limit though so may get something like 6 points and a heftyish fine.

Your looking at 5 or 6 points & a fine. Unlucky you were 1mph over getting a fixed penalty!

Oh & congrats on the engagement, dont let this ruin your weekend. Ive been caught by the fuckers a couple times in the past 2 years doing nothing really & getting points & fines thrown at me, the British Police Force really should change their name to 'Cash Converters' PLC, its a shambles really the way this contry's controlled!.

Unlucky, but when you see the police can you tell your constablury from me: your useless, as i've already said that to mine and Herts Police when my mate got assulted and when I was pulled over for a brake light out. Congrats on the engagment.

I got 3 points and a £60 fine for doing 86mph on a 70mph motorway restriction.

Then another 3 and 60 for doing 37 in a 30.

Then I got banned and fined £375 for doing (according to the cuntstable without speed gun or camera) between 101 and 102mph for 2km on a motorway. (M4) It was a clear dry sunny day, the fast lane was straight and empty and I had observed the restrictions in the roadworks but this was not taken into account.

Policemen aren't either nice, or fair, on the whole.

No, he wrote down on the ticket ''101 - 102mph''

Actually, it might have been ''100 - 101''

or ''101 - 103''

or ''101 - 105''

Anyway, you get the idea. It was one of those. I'll let you know if I can find the ticket.

He reckoned he'd seen me braking from at least 120 but couldn't prove it so was going to report me for the above.

How he worked that out i'll never know as he didn't have a VASCAR system and I never saw the car at all apart from when I was poodling along in road works.

Cock.

All academic really considering I had been doing 151.

I got done at 59 in a 30 which resulted in me pleading guilty obviously, not bothering with court. Accepting 6 points and a fine of less than 200 notes, cant remember the exact figure.

Oh yes, it was completely unfair of them to not take into account that you stuck to the limit in the roadworks after you went off at well over double the limit on a motorway?

Fuck me, people think they deserve to get away with anything these days.

A warning would have sufficed.

I didn't drive recklessly or dangerously.

I travelled fast for a matter of seconds in perfect conditions on a straight stretch of motorway that was deserted in front of me.

It wasn't outside a school or hospital or down a high street or country lane.

I was 130 miles into a 165 mile drive and I broke the speed limit briefly. The prevalling conditions were more than fine and I did no harm to anyone.

I had adhered to the limit prior to and after that and as I said i'd pottered through the road works in the slow lane as I always do.

All I was asking for was a bit of consideration.

Had it been a traffic car I was stopped by, I almost certainly would have been treated with a less biased attitude.

I feel a ban and a large fine was unwarranted.

I'm still feeling the effects of both now and will do for some time.

We all speed at one time or another, so let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Did they give you any paperwork?
How did they catch you? Sounds liek to me they made an estimate and couldn't varify your speed. In whcih case, i wouldn't worry. Maybe 3 points and a fine, but nothing to worry about.

SVM, that sucks, i didn't get a ban for averaging a good 10-12mph more than that, and peaking about 20mph less that your previously (unseen) peak speed. But luckily they took my driving and jsut done me for speeding, and due to the road, it ended up being an SP30......
