use the disk defragmenter, it will speed it up

Get the free version of avg anti spyware (used to be ewido) and its excellent.

Update it then run a full scan.

Then clear the contents of the prefetch folder and run a defrag of the hard drive!

C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

I wouldnt bother with registry cleaners as they can mess with your microsoft office updates etc
