Changing a clutch, or swapping an engine straight over?
Got offered a 1.6 spi astra engine for pennies, clutch is going to go in mine soon, would it be quicker changing the engine round, better clutch & more power

depending if the looms the same or not its probably the same amount of work to swap the engine.

1.4 & 1.2 are identical looms, just need to swap the ECU, so id imagine the 1.6 might be the same? Might fire a 1.4 in if not, for effort it would take to put in a new clutch, might as well.

i just took out an engine in 2hours odd, but putting the astra one back in and wiring up will take some time

do the clutch if your engine is good.
Your gna be gutted if you swap it over and the timing belt on the new engine snaps.

Thats the reason I didnt want to do a conversion in mine. I knew the engine ran perfectly, knew it had some abuse but I also knew I hadn't had any problems with it
But I suppose its a risk you take
