Hi Guys & Girls,

Been reading posts and surfing the site for a while now - fab site and good comminuity you got here !!!

Anyway - my mrs had a 106 Gi which we sold several months ago, being a vauxhall man myself I would like to replace the 106 with the 1.8 SRi.
Is there anything I need to look out for ?
Someone mentioned the electric power steering can be troublesome - is this true ?

Any help and general info would be much apreicated.

Been looking for one of the last 1.8 SRi's on 55 plate low miles with leather but very hard to find - in fact I can't find any !

Anyway cheers peps

I have a 2005 corsa 1.8. mint condition, no engine mods, low milage, well looked after, 1 owner from new. will let it go cheap for a quick sale.

has full Vsport road spec coilovers (very comfortable!) and new discs and pads all round.

there isnt many with the leather about. I thought it was an additional extra ?

i brought one a few months back. It was a random buy or "temp" i could of said, went for a drive in one for sale locally, next day i bought it

low millage examples are a good bet, the 05 will probs still be under warrenty things i have found need some attension

gear linkage...on most corsa C's mine is fine though but seems to be a problem

ABS there was a wirring recall on this.

clutches...alot of 1.8 owners complain about a dodgy clutch, again iv had no probs

thats about all i have heard bad about them

good thing is most owners from new are female or older male, little or few boyracers would of bought this car new from vauxhall.

they go well in standard form, ok its not a quick as a 106 git, but alot nicer drive !

dont no if any of that helps...oh and they do grow on you after a while

Are the remap's worth doing ? What sort of gain do you get ?

best performance gain it seems

1. performance exhaust

lexmaul, bastuk, piper etc

2. better air intake

either panel filter or dblias flow marster's is a good bet

3. cams

shrick or dblias, newmann also

4. remap

go to a decent place "not regal" like dave A and v sport

should so gains with all those from 123 to about 150 +

add a dblias inlet manifold and lexmaul outlet, there is one running 180 with no internal work

thats true dave, mine is 53 but 04 it had 32k when i got it and was mint. only bad bit was the engine bay needed a good steam clean. Apart from that the paint work is great as is the interior.

Thats a bit off !
Shame it's a good system.
I was surprised to hear you guys saying the 106 gti is a quicker car - i mean you would think with the corsa being 1800 vux would have tuned the engine more and imo should be putting out in the region of 150-165 bhp. maybe it's just me

steve - very true.
The mrs 106 gti was a good motor, always reliable and never missed a beat. But it didn't feel so well put together.
I've driven one 1.8 sri and it seemed more torquey than the 106.
