Found a Monaro cheap enough but the guy offered me a bad price so I'm currently posting an ad for Astra Owners Club.
Just finished it and then nearly closed the window because I can't face selling it. It costs me nothing, I love it and its boss, but I've owned it for FIVE years.
Help me out. Is that too long or would you keep it if you love it? Monaro is OK but not a convertible and its absolutely crap on juice. Like annoyingly so.

If you love it keep it! I know people who have kept their first car for YEARS because they can't face selling it. If I were you though id be naughty and put the ad up then see how I felt come the time when someone was genuinely interested.

You've wanted a Monaro for quite some time now.
Onwards & Upwards imo. The Astra has lasted you well, but what's the point of keeping it? I can't see it turning into a classic any time soon. Fair enough you've had it for a while now, but if you want the monaro, go for it. Just look forward.

Noise plays a big part in the attraction of a car for me, all the cars I like sound awesome, so the Monaro would be above the Astra with me.
The amount of time you've been going on about getting a Monaro, I think you should just bite the bullet and go for it while you can.
I've sold cars I really loved, but only missed them when I've had something which wasn't as good, now I've got something better, it doesn't even cross my mind, I reckon you'd be the same with a Monaro, wouldn't even give the Astra a second thought.
If it turns out you don't like it in 3 months or whatever, you can always sell it again and buy something else.

Are you going to keep the Astra forever because you're emotionally attached to it? I assume you're going to sell it at some point. If you've got the money, do it imo. I've heard you talk about monaro's at meets, and seen you post on here about them. You've wanted one for a while now, imo if you can afford it, bite the bullet and go for it.

Think of the photo opportunity there White Corsa and black Monaro
You'll buy one eventually anyway, so it might as well be now.

Monaro is a better car than an Astra (any astra)..... thats all you need to know....
The longer you keep the astra, the less you'll get for it.
Move upwards.

......but given that the Monaro will quickly loose far more value than the Astra, the Astra would be the sensible choice.
If you can stand the fuel bills, go for the Monaro, the noise of the engine when booting it would be enough for me to change over. If you've really wanted one for that long, and the opportunity is there to fulfil it, do it, do it now.

If you love it then keep it.
Why sell up and buy a car you just might not like after a year, when you had a car you loved.
I don't understand why people get rid of cars after a couple of years or whatever

Have you tried doing a list of +/- or both cars?
Agree with Edd though... onwards and upwards is usually the best way
