Probably a stupid question but thought i'd ask
Are you allowed to drink on trains?
If not what sort of fine are you looking at?

Yeah you can drink. Everytime I've been more than about 30 mins on a train there's been someone coming round selling cans

Did you know?
The police are allowed to confiscate alcohol from under 18 year olds they see drinking in public places.
It is an offence to possess, carry or drink alcohol on trains, coaches and minibuses.
Never drink and drive, as your reactions will be impaired and could end up in an accident.

Where is that from? I have drunk on trains filled with police and not had anything said to me.

Drank on trains many times and never been told not to.....
However, getting back on a train at the end of the day when quite drunk is not a nice feeling

They sell it on the train, and even offer you a cup to pour it into.
Its not illegal.

Mate of mine smuggled a pitcher of beer out of a pub once. He put it in a plastic bag and walked out It was a ridiculous idea but somehow he pulled it off.

I've drank on the train a few times, and even when the ticket collector came round he never said anything about it. If I do do it though I tend to keep it out of view as best I can.

That's only on certain trains though. Your common National Rail trains, I believe if Rail Police find you with it you'll get a fine.
However Virgin trains where they sell it I can only presume the legalities are different.
