looking into extending the house, but we have the waste pipe on the back wall and the man hole cover in the way, which means either moving them, or building the extension in a funny shape, i.e. one corner missing. any body have an idea of the cost of this?

good luck with this, we have had mega problems with man hole covers, my dad is being sued by yorkshire water as we speak, so make sure you own the pipe and the man hole cover before you move it

That must be illegal, how bad would it be if there was a blockage and the manhole exploded in a big shitty geyser where you're preparing food?

all i know is they had a manhole under the kitchen. used to be a mates house years ago when they sold it i think the new neighbours had some have something done about it. think they just concreted the lid in and had it moved further down the garden. best ringing council really.

DO NOT build over a manhole cover/drain cover. i have lost count of the amount of house insurance claims where i have been out to rip up a floor or take out a kitchen because the drain overflowed. get them moved professionally.
