x16xe corsa. When im stood in traffic the temp gauge goes up in no time to approx. 100 degrees. as soon as i set back off its straight back down to 90 carn't understand this everything seems fine car runs spot on. how can this be? let face it it's fooking freezin!

Ye full of water, doesn't use it at all never overheats just gets to 102 and fan kicks in.
Could the temp sensor be fukd?

Theres nothing wrong with it going up to 100 when your not moving, In a corsa it looks like the engine is heating up very quickly because there is only a 10 degree swing on most of the gauge. its nothing to worry about

nothing to worry about at all, the water temp goes up cause theres no air flowing over the radiator to cool it, as soon as you start to move and the cold winter air starts moving through the rad the water temp falls, and as said the guage only has 10 degrees in it, the water wont boil till 115 - 120 degrees anyway

My old GSi used to do the same mate. I could be in traffic for no more than five mins and it will be boiling with the fan kicking in.. Never did find out why though?

Cheers lads, was just worrying abit about it being like this in the winter when its freezin. not to mention what its going to be like when the air is red hot in the summer and im stuck in a traffic jam. We'll soon see.

I still reckon dodgy stat. When they get old they open slower. There only about £9 and a piece of piss to fit.
