I'm moving to Spain with a mate.. decided it a few months ago, saved up about £4k since then and we're off on the 21st.

We'll see how it goes, plan on staying for about 6 months but hopefully I'll not be coming back!

US is difficult to get into isnt it, unless your loaded or marry a yank you've got slim chance!!

Id go to NZ possibly Aus in a flash....maybe Italy if I was sure id be able to find work!

thats the problem with most places. id be one for selling the house and car and taking off with the money.....but what do you do when you get there?

i wouldnt be up for startin at the bottom, sweepin streets or some pish. knowin you had a job to go to would be good.

Yeah id feel like a fish out of water landing in a strange country not knowing what to do next.

A couple of guys my old man used to work with (BP Oil Refinery) took 5 year contracts in Western Australia, good job on a brand new plant, very well paid - c. 60k, free house supplied for the contract term in a new purpose built village, private plane to take them where they want on their time off.........singapore for the weekend etc. Sounds ideal. Funny enough its the exact same line of work im entering atm.......just need to convince jade

Haha, nice Colin.

I've got the first week or so sorted, I've flown out to Barcelona a couple of times in the last year and everyone I've met have found it easy to rent an apartment once they're out there.

As for work, as soon as we got serious about the idea I applied for work in a pub so I now have plenty of bar experience which will come in handy to start with.. there are also plenty of agencies out there for office based jobs etc!

I'm not too bothered though, that's what I'm looking forward to most.. making it up as I go along, with no worries and no responsibilities, at least for a while. My boss was gobsmacked when I told him, I could tell he thought I was stupid, but I'm 18 years old and I'm going to go out and live life.. even if the Barcelona thing fails hard, I've at least tried it and I'll gain a lot from the experience.
