Over the passed couple of days I've been helping out with the redecorating and have been lift pacakages containing parts of wardrobes, drawers, cabinets etc. Long story short I made the mistake of lifting with my back rather than my legs and now have really bad pains in my lower back and around my lats. I do a lot of driving in my job and it gets really painful when sat down too much. Going to go to the doctors about it but I know hes going to just say get some rest and dont do anything to strenuous(sp?), but what I need to know is whats the best route to go in terms of getting a sick not/time of work etc for this kind of incident.
Any help is really appreciated, thanks

There's no way to prove you genuinely have hurt your back, go to the doctors and tell em, they will give you one right away.
They'll rest you up and give you pain killers, there's not much else you can do - If i'm doing heavy lifting I wear a back brace.

you'll need to self certificate for the first 7 days then you'll need a doctors note for any further time taken off but tbh if you go to a physio threrapist they should be able to sort you out and have you back to work in a few days.
