Now, most people go to sleep and providing they have enough time sleeping they wake up feeling awake and refreshed. However, for years this has not been the case with me.

I constantly feel tired, when I go to bed, I usually struggle to get to sleep, when I do get to sleep, it does nothing and I wake up feeling like shit and tired. and repeat.

Lately it's got even worse, to the point where it doesn't matter how long I sleep for the result is always the same. I can go to bed at 11 pm, wake up at 10am and feel knackered. if I go to bed at 11 and wake up at 8 I feel tired lol, if I go to bed at 3am and wake up at 12-1pm I feel tired etc etc etc.

Most night's I struggle to get to sleep at all, just lying in bed uncomfortable and lately I've been having this thing where just as I feel like I'm slipping off into a deep sleep, my body wakes me up like I wasn't breathing or something.

Anyway, it's pissing me off, anyone got any advise? At uni when i have early lectures I find I have to have a sugar free redbull sometimes to keep my eyes open, even with 'plenty of sleep'. Don't really want to do it, but would sleeping tablets help the night before?

you need to get into a regular sleep pattern, doing the same things before bed, at the same times, and then settling yourself down and getting up at the same time. It'll take a few weeks/months but does work if you stick with it.

If you cant get to sleep then figure out why...have you things on your mind? Eating/drinking too close to when you go to bed? Doing something too stimulating just before you go to bed?

Ive been like that the past few weeks, going to bed late & getting up mid afternoon. tbh its because im off work, on holiday & sat round the house doing sod all & not tiring myself out. Back to work Monday & 6:30 am rises will soon sort that out!

So try doing something to knacker yourself out before bed time & you'll sleep like a baby!!

Diet's alright, junk now and then, and drink now and then being a student. but I try to eat fairly healthily.

Yeh I exercise - exercise is the only time I feel awake, after a good 20 minute run or something I feel completely alive again.

To be honest, last year I found out that I was doing some exercises, weights / sit ups just before I went to bed every night and then realised that was keeping me up, but i don't do that anymore.

I have a lot on my mind all the time, under a lot of pressure / stress at the mo.

Keep a pad and pen next to your bed. If you wake up thinking about something then write it down and then get some more rest knowing its there for you in the morning.

If going for a run helps you wake up why not push yourself to have a early morning run & see if that helps. Be as active as you can during the day & when you come home your head will just melt into the pillow. I suffer from not being able to sleep aswell but only if im out of a strict routine. Once im back going im fine!

if its causing problems with your studying i'd say you should go see your gp. as you have said you are stressed atm so discuss it with a doctor and see what they advise.

Think I did this about 4 years ago when I was having the same, did blood test and stuff and I was fine.

Yeh cosmo that may be an idea. Got a lot of assignments due at the mo, including my final year project (which focuses mainly on some software I'm developing) - so even when I'm not infront of the PC my brain's thinking of ways to do different parts

That said tho, last year I was on placement year, had nothing to worry about after work / no assignments or anything, was a nice easy year and still had this problem Used to have to drink a load of cafine at my desk in the morning, to stop using my keyboard as a pillow.

Could be a plan to be fair, I'd like to go running in the morning, at the mo it's a bit cold. I was running in the dark for about 8-10k a couple of nights a week last term and it was fooking freezing, hurt my lungs breathing in the cold air

Its a common thing sleep thearpists will tell you to do. As is not just lying there if you cant sleep, get up and do something relaxing and then go back and try again.

Yeah I'm having this problem at the moment. I feel really tired during the day when I've woke up try & go to sleep at night but I just can't. Only seems to happen when I'm not doing anything which is the case at the moment as I'm on my hols, back to work Monday so hopefully I'll get back into my normal patterns. Also it makes me feel really dizzy during the day. I don't feel to great today TBH

Ditto I sleep at horrendous times and this is not helping me as I start a new job on Monday and need to sort out my sleeping pattern.
