probably a loose bearing on the dvd drive, it will probably be fine, but obviously you dont want the noise so might be worthwhile trying to get it swapped.
when they get the red ring, theres no noise as its caused by the chips popping out of the solds under heat

iv got one, its good 
they are also fitted with different coolers, so red ring isnt so much of an issue
