I remember a thread not so long ago with concerns about yet another ABS recall on the Corsa C's. This thread will show you, and tell you, whats getting done.
First of all the whole ABS unit is removed and a new electronic modulator is fitted reguardless of condition. (This is the control centre to release a locked wheel under heavy breaking)
Secondly a weatherproof cover is fitted around the new modulator assembely
Thirdly a free brakefluid change to bleed out the air in the system caused by the unit change
BEFORE

AFTER

Also the wiring harness is checked for corrosion and if it is needed, will be replaced free of charge too.
Hope this helps
Forgot to add, Your vehicle will be checked reguardless of what reason it goes into a main dealer

By the sounds of it, yours doesnt have ABS. Your car is out of the affected range anyway

It would depend on the spec it came out the factory really phi, It has the space there because of mass production of one type of "space for it" is cheaper two different designs for ones with and ones without abs.
Stavs was yours in the affected chassis range? We are replacing them all reguardless just to stop any further issues

What age does this apply to?
I have a 56 plate SXi+, only just had its service about 3 months ago so would like to get it sorted now if it needs doing rather than wait until October

You should receive a letter, but if you bought the vehicle used then vauxhall might not be aware of the change of ownership. Just ring up your local dealer and give them your reg, they will be able to tell you there and then

they rang me yesterday to book mine in, I told them to GTF as last time they had it in for an ABS recall they decided to break my traction control system and refused to repair it, then denied all knowledge of it having traction control

aPK Its more than likely your car is out of the recall range then
That is shocking tbh dave. What was the outcome? Did they repair it in the end?

was a long story, they claim it never had TC so I took in the reciept from vaux from when the car was bought brand new and it clearly showed it had TC on the spec sheet. I know it had TC as i had to pull a fuse every time I put the car on the dyno at Vsport as it wouldnt run properly otherwise, my diagnostic machine also picked up and did fault tests on the TC system and the code of the cars loom showed that it had TC.
Vaux blamed the fault on me, said that I broke the TC by pulling the fuse out and/or using my diagnostic equipment on the car and tried to make the problem dissapear.
I went as far as getting the factory records that showed thhe car definitely had TC fitted. they couldnt decide what to do so the car went back to them again, took them all day and they replaced the alarm sounder they claimed yet again it didnt have TC.
I then asked how they came to this conclusion, they said that they used Tech 2 and it couldnt find the TC system, I showed them the problem which was pathetic really, they were trying to read fault codes from the engine ECU not the ABS/TC ecu. turned out that they had fitted the wrong loom during the last ABS recall and left an earth off. they then claimed that THEY had fixed it and that they had refitted the TC system as a gesture of good will.
and they claimed they had their best technicians working on the car

It is worth phoning up anyway, they update the information of the owner. Mine was still the original owner. Now I'll get any correspondence regarding the car.

Rob, yours must have been bad. They only change the hydro unit if they find bad corrosion as its £400 odd.

Phoned the Recall line, yes it needs doing - should speak to a garage and book it in as soon as you can.
Phoned the garage to book it in and they said wait for a letter from Vaux

Get the Recall line to send one out then. Is all the details up to date on the recall line? You are the registered owner aren't you on the recall line?

The guy wasn't too helpful TBH. I have a private plate but it wasn't registered under the new number. My old registration was listed as without keeper (despite all being fine with DVLA).
So thats all sorted out with the recall line. Garage said Vauxhall are sending out the papers in batches (based upon chassis number). Mine was only of the last 250 to be built IIRC so could be last to get it through.
Will wait a week or so and see what does or doesn't turn up.....
