theres not much room for 45's (40's are better) on a 1600 duet to the angle they sit at they sit very close to the bulkead which ruins airflow.

looked at the throttle body option?

I have looked at throttle bodies but i think i like the sound of back fires and the look of them under the bonnet.

Have you done any of these conversions before??

Thanks for the help!

You will have to get a carb pump like a pacet pump because the injection pump is too high pressured and the ignition is best to do on an aftermarket ECU but possibly on the standard one.

ive seen plenty of cars working fine with standard ecu but never to their optimum.

far better off using some aftermarket stuff like the omex ignition only system.

I think fitting carbs to a modern engine is like fitting wooden wheels.

All completely false.
Just old wives tales that they "go out of tune all the time"

If you get somewhere to set them up that know there way around a carb you wont have a problem.
I set my carbs up myself at first, and had no problems with balancing/rough idle at all.

You have a fair point BUT:

TB's far superior to carbs=Fact
Carbs far better than the standard 1600 16v inlet=Fact

Oh yeah, without a doubt.

I don't dislike carbs, I just think TBs are the better option for modern engines, particularly the 16XEs as there's fuck all space behind the engine and you can't angle carbs like you can with TBs, so there's less airflow too.

Still a lot better than the normal setup though.

twin 40s on a 2.0 16v zetec engine

needed a manifold, fuel pump, pressure reg, and then setup by a garage
