Quick question, how much are V6 brakes worth?

Been offered them but neither of us know what they're worth.

He said disks are ok but could do with replacing, comes with pads (life left in them) & calipers too.

And they do fit under 15's yeah?

They fit under SOME 15s, what wheels do you have?

They're only £215 new from LMF, so second hand, needing new discs, I wouldn't want to pay more than £120, and for that, the pads would need to be 3/4s of what they are new.

Astra CDX wheels.

Nice one barter, I was going to say £40. Is it a 'tightish' fit. I have 2 litres atm but they just don't look big enough!

I guess if he agree's to £40 anyway, they'd sell on again for more anyway, or at least that same price and make no loss anyway? I'll offer him 40 and see what he says.

Theirs two (if not more??) types of v6 calipers thats probably why people have problems with them fouling certain wheels

Quick question. Do they stop the car effectively enough? If the answer is yes, you will be spending money better spent elsewhere...........

Well yeh they do as they are better than the shite 1.4 ones. However if I'm looking to upgrade to a 2.0l in a couple of months, I want something that's better than 'standard', as in those brakes will be standard than that engine and not an upgrade at all!

No point at all fella. You won't be impressed by the V6's. Same braking power with less pedal feel.

Stick with the 2.0 brakes, upgrade the disks and pads, or go for 4 pots.

You can also get a 285mm disk for the 2.0 16v brakes.

REally wouldn't advise from a 2.0 to a V6 though. You'll be dissapointed.

I drove my mates with 2.0 brakes and mine had V6 brakes.

The V6ers felt very lazy, if you get what i mean.

The 2.0 brakes were sharp as buggery.

Yup, agree with Dean.

Think the 285mm discs can be got from LMF.

Honestly, the brakes really are no better. V6 arn't good enough for a LET either. V6 feel lazy, poor pedal, and not all that impressive braking.

My old kit i sold of uprated disks, pads, 2.0 16v calipers, put your foot on that brake pedal and you really knew about it!!!! Sent you through the front window.

And i've also cooked my V6 brakes so they are blue. Brakes are important, they need to inspire confidence, and the V6's don't do this. They just look big and good behined the alloys.

Err, we have a LET corsa AND an XE corsa thanks.

V6's, even with rear discs, are NOT good enough for a LET, not if you value your life at all.

Donnas car stops yes, but it really isn't as good as it should be for a car of that size with that power.

V6 is the cheap alternative, a "budget" brake system. Yes it works, but don't expect much from them.

Can't really comment on that as i sold my 2.0 about 4 years ago now

But get on Novaload, or Mig or something and someone (mainly nova owners) will be able to give a good review.

I think Mintex 1144 pads are meant to work really well with the suitable discs, but unsure what discs. AK may be able to help with that one as he's been through a few setups i think.
