Ill be buying a cam for my 1.4 8v sri on the weekend.....and its gona be a 290 degree.....anyone know much about cams?
What will this be like in mine?

im pretty sure thats quite a high lift.

290 is a big cam, ideal for a carb'd engine. check the valve lift though, often a big duration also has a big lift. you dont want the pistons to hit the valves.
also the bigger lift may mean that the valve springs go coilbound so an uprated spring with less coils may be needed.

its gonna be on a standard engine but with a 4 branch manifold.....as i told you before i have no idea with cams etc

It won't run well at all with the standard inlet setup.

ill be using the car for road rallies....and the engine has to be standard spec.....but cams exhaust induction kits etc are ok...

me thinks pockets in the pistons will be needed. Thats sort of profile will prob have high lift.

the company that sugested the 290 cam is Autosprint in Birmingham....ill be dealing through them if any one else has?

You wont need pocketed pistons imo.
300+ deg cams clear fine in 8v engines.
Worth checking first tho.
Oh and btw, a 290deg cam on the standard management will be utter shite. Idle will be terrible, and it'll drive badly.

it will be a 270 degree cam that i will be buying......and Lightweight competition followers. .......
How would this be?
