Author saving images in Word to .jpg - help Please!

as above really.

I've some images in a Word document i would like to have as seperate images but am unsure of how to do this other than copying to desktop, saving it etc but i find this a very time consuming and complex procedure for what should be something so simple.....i am sure there is a simple way!
