If i buy off Ebay using Paypal and i got stung, will i be covered - im just a tad nervous about spending alot on Ebay.

No not 100%

Need to dispute claims and you could loose the dispute.

Only get money back if the seller has funds in their paypal account to repay you.

I got stung on a (digital camera) Christmas present for my parents, paypal decided the dispute in my favour but couldn't give me any money back due to the seller clearing out his accoun!

no not true, i had to refund a guy for some jumpers but my account was limited so coulndt refund him, so waited for payupal to take the money paypal left my account in negative
