What usually happens is you find another job
Redundancy money, how long have they given, are you in a union - they can sometimes get things to move in your direction???

Sorry to hear that. They usually just tell you straight what is going on although some people might get kept back longer to wind business up, depending on the reasons for the losses.

We are going December 2008.
What redundancy money do you get
What is a retention package
What is a relocation package, they have moved my job to Lincolnshire
Do i have to stay here untill december?
Yes, this questions probably appear dumb to some members on the board but ive never been in this situation before so id appreciate it if someone could give me some summaries ...

Money depends on their package, they should give you details. Usually based on length of service.
Retention or relocation packages are arrangements to stay on. May be alteration of salary or conditions. Relocation usually includes a contribution to moving expenses but check what they are offering.
You don't have to stay but you won't get the redundancy money if you don't.

I think you get a months wage for every year you've been there.
Dunno about retention or relocation.
You dont need to stay there you can leave when you want giving a months notice.

When the girl was made redundant she was only there for a year but got £4.5 redundancy money ontop of her final wage.
So it all depends on the company really.
Sorry to hear that Ally, i was almost in the same position last year

Just abit sad, been here quite a while now. I knew it wasnt forever but i guess i wanted to leave when i wanted, not when i was told i had to
Plus i dont have a clue whats going to happen with the money side of things, but hopefully we will be having individual consultations soon.
Just felt like a prick in the meeting when i said.... whats redundancy?!

There should be a redundancy amount calculator on the internet somewhere - because if your company offers you the bare minimum (they probably will) they will use the same equation.
