Will bigger CV's fit into std steering knuckles or will they need to be machined or new ones?

If you mean for running large outer CV's as used in conversions you have 2 options;

1) Machine a big block hub down to take a Corsa bearing, this then goes into the knuckle.

2) Use normal big block hubs, machine the steering knuckle out to take a Golf Syncro 4x4 rear wheel bearing. (This is basically a Harry Hockley hub then!)

The "bigger CVs " people talk about for a conversion need to have a different hub center which is turned down on a lathe to fit in the corsa bearing

Is that what you mean?

Well the CV doesn't fit directly into the steering knuckle anyway. The splines fit into the hub (or drive flange) and that in turn is pressed into the steering knuckle.

What is it you are wanting to do? Just uprate the CV's or is this conversion related as well?

Yes your corsa hubs wont be able to accept the larger CVs

You will need a pair of new standard bearings and a pair of machined down hubs to go into them

Bearings will be about a tenner each at a guess, I got my hubs from chris astley the second time round. They are brand new ones and haven't been fitted before then machined down. They can be found here - Chris astley link

Or you could source some from an astra Gsi and send them to someone with a lathe but its less hastle just to get them from new ready made

No.

If you are buying the machined hubs you do not need to touch the steering knuckles, just fit new wheel bearings and get them pressed in!

Yeah if you are buying hubs with the CVs all you will need is new standard bearings and then get them all pressed together
