Just read that its been cut to 5.25%
What a result, only just recived my mortgage offer, which was at 6.44%. Now halifax cut this to 5.79%
That means my mortgage has gone down just under £50 per month, before i even get it lol!
RESULT
on the other hand, found out 3 weeks after the offer was accepted, that it was on the market pre HIPS so i now have to pay for the searches myself

if you keep the payment at the same level as before you will overpay the mortgage meaning less £££ spent on interest

I'm just about to undergo a tracker mortgage - so will see a £20 a month drop when the building society follows the drop and changes the rate.
Colin - you may be stuck for a while on the banks 'standard variable rate' which is usually about 2% higher than the bank of england's base rate - so expect to pay around 7.5%.
I'd change it ASAP when that happens.

So long as the tracker deal isn't worse, there's normally an additional .5% or so put on top of BoE rate, which can go up if rates are good.
