Drove one the other day as my car was in to have some work done.

Forgot how much fun it was driving about in a car that has practically no weight over the front wheels and being able to mash the throttle pedal going round islands - even in the wet - with little to no understeer .

Typically They had a 1.6 Turbo SRi in when i dropped the car off .

What was the actual speed like? I know the 1.2 16v's and indeed the new 12v engines have more BHP than the X10XE's etc BUT, a 12v in a car that size can't be good.

Pretty poor to be honest - was quite dissapointed. Drive my mums Corsa C 1.2 quite often and that feels more energetic - probably due to it weighing a sizable about less though I imagine.

That said it's not as bad as the A3 I showed up from a set of traffic lights. Me and my mate haven't laughed so hard for ages - the guy driving it with a bandana on his head and practically jumping in his seat when throwing it between gears added to the occasion though .

No weight?

The Corsa D is very heavy. The Corsa D 1.2 SXI with a/c is just as heavy as a Corsa C 1.8 SRI.

The Corsa D is not light by any measure, and this is why the 1.2 and 1.4 petrol engines are so woeful in it.

i think he means no weigh over the front, ie very small engine, not the actual weight of the car

tbh, they shouldn't even make the Corsa D with a 12v engine. It must just be plain dangerous, even around town. imho, you need a quicker car around town than slower.

i think the 12v is about 0-60 in 17 seconds? Might as well walk tbh.

Compared to mine you could tell there was less weight over the front anyway. Suspension actually felt bumpier than my Astra too, and the steering was a little more twitchy which helped with the nimble feeling .

I can see why some people have made swaps from the Astra to the Corsa VXR .

They're quicker than my old 1.2 8v Vegas . They are painfully slow though, but you just get used to driving something at that pace so it's not a big issue. I even had my corsa 4/5 up at some points and it was never "too" bad - you just had to plan things well .

The 1.0 12v Corsa D is only 0.4 seconds quicker to 60 than the 45bhp 1.2 8v from the Corsa B, so both are about as slow as each other. Even the 1.4 16v Corsa D barely manages 60 in under 12 seconds. Except for the 1.6T people must be insane to by a petrol Corsa D, they are all shocking.

My friend has a 05 reg C 1.2 sxi and his mum has an 57 D sxi. He drives them both regualry (his mums when he has no fuel ) and it is so much less responsive that the C. He says you floor it, nothing happens, you hit higher RPM and it pulls a little bit harder, change into a higher gear because your at the redline, and he says its like putting a Scooby in 5th at 25 and waiting for it to pull

I drive my GF's 1.2 SXi (D) all the time, and its by no means slugish!

Sit at 60, plant your foot in 5th and it will keep going not like most small engined cars which bog down and go no where!

Its no rocket ship to 60 but once moving its a great wee engine!

Much better than her parents 1.2 SXi (C)

I've got a 1.2 C and driven a 1.2 D - difference in weight is quite noticeable IMO, more sluggish but once up to speed will both pull not too bad.

Obviously neither are quick, but the D definately feels like a bigger car with a smaller engine than my C.

I asked because he mentioned the fun of no weight over the front wheels and not he speed.

I just wanted to know because the D is a much bigger car.

I have driven a car with over 100bhp
