Aynone know of any with decent setups?

seen a fabia vrs going round beating stuff like s2000's and the like, am sure there must be better though

Intresting post steve, i would be very intriged to see how one went (such as your vrs) round a tight circuit like brands hatch

Extra torque should play a part really, and they not the worse handling car so should be levle with a similar powerd 1.8t car i reckon (golf/leon etc)

thats my opinion anyway

No Details on the setup etc, however he's got it at least remapped.

There are a few comments about difficulty in utilising the torque out of the bends etc

I'd imagine a good torquey diesel would be mucho fun on a tight track

i dont really remember seeing anything diesel on a trackday, its certainly not a popular choice.

there are Thurlby's dervs that i think some are set up for track,

and last year when i went to Oulton Park for the British GT, there was a Volkswagen Championship running with a few Derv Golfs and a Derv Caddy Van, Regals Golf was in the series, but i think that may be petrol.

Bare with me on this one.

As some of you may know i've snapped the shaft on my turbo in my Astra. I've taken it to a place called Turbo Centre. They are making it into a hybrid turbo. The exhaust wheel is smaller and the inlet is bigger.

He guy who worked there said that he does the same thing for the Rover 45 and it produces 160 bhp when this turbo is fitted. He said that the Rover engine is 8v and mine is 16v so i might have 180 bhp and with a remap 200 bhp.

Now i don't believe this for 1 sec that it's going to have 200 bhp after a remap. But it should be a lot quicker when it's all fitted and working well. I hope.

Edit. I forgot to adD that my Astra is a 2.0 DTI.

I could imagine that the Ibiza Cupra TDi's would be good round a track. Come standard with 4 pots, sports suspension, bags of torque and power. Just as quick as the petrol version too.

my freind bring's home fabia vrs's and octavia's too. the fabia would do bloody well imo on a tight track, very good performance in standard form i would like to see what its like with lowering, arb's and a decent remap. I think it would do well, if not better than alot of cars
